River Thames From Richmond Hill
£25.00
This is a pen and ink drawing of the famous View from Richmond Hill, overlooking the River Thames with Ham House in the distance.
It is the only view in England that is protected by an Act of Parliament. This is called the Richmond, Ham and Petersham Open Spaces Act. It was passed in 1902, to protect the land on and below Richmond Hill, thus preserving the great foreground views to the west and south.
Immortalised in paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds and J.M.W. Turner, it was described by Sire Walter Scott as "An unrivalled landscape".
