Church Street, Twickenham
Church Street takes its name from St Mary's Church dating back to the 14th Century. It became a link between Richmond and the west, increasing in importance when Richmond Bridge was built. Whenever the monarchy passed by Church Street on their way to Hampton Court, it was expected that the bells of St Mary's should ring out to welcome them.
Arguably the two best pubs in Twickenham, Church Street has "The Fox" which has been serving locals and visitors for over 300 years and the "Eel Pie" at the other end being popular with rugby fans on match days.
To show these two pubs as well giving a more overall view of the street, the idea of a split screen picture came out and here is the result!
Pen, ink & water colour. Gylcee print on Hahnemulhe acid free archive watercolour paper. Single sided mount. Limited Edition 500.
