Upper Pen Pond - Richmond Park - Surrey
£5.00
Pen Ponds are the largest ponds in Richmond Park. They are divided into the Upper and Lower Pen Ponds, and are set at two different levels divided by a track and embankment. These used to be gravel pits, but took their present form at the end of the 1600's. They are home to many birds and aquatic life. During WWII they were drained to prevent them being used as a landmark by the Luftwaffe.
